New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed that he met with free agent Juan Soto and his wife recently before Soto signed with the Mets. Boone didn't try to recruit Soto back to the Yankees after their initial meeting, but he did express his feelings and vision for Soto's future with the team during a meeting in California.

“And then we sat next to each other on the dais at the writer’s dinner. The yearbook for the writer’s dinner — we’re kind of thumbing through it, about halfway through — and he turns it over on the back and it’s Soto and all the Mets stuff, and he just kind of slides it over to me like ... I’m like, ‘C’mon, man!’.
