Lora Lebo said she remains close with the Lebanon Police Department, whose officers have been supporting her.

A year after central Pa. police officer’s killing, widow finds peace in forgivenessIn the days after her police officer husband died in the line of duty in Lebanon, Lora Lebo forgave the man who killed him.

Lora Lebo said she never considered herself a police officer’s wife before her husband died, because he was very good at keeping his work separate from his personal life. When Lora kissed him goodbye in the morning and told him to be safe, he waved her off and said, “oh it’s Lebanon, nothing can happen here.”

Lora said Bill Lebo was the brother-in-law who got along with all the other brothers-in-law in the family and was famous for picking up the tab for a pancake breakfast.“He was our rock. I loved to see him happy,” she said. “We’ve all experienced the same tragedy,” she said. “He was part of their day-to-day life, and he was my whole life. We’re trying to figure out how to move on. It’s just been very difficult.”

The William Lebo Foundation recently provided money for the Lebanon City police’s newest K9 officer. The foundation also hosted a fundraising gala last New Year’s Eve — a holiday Lora and Bill Lebo loved spending together.
