This article discusses a word game challenge and provides hints and analysis on how to solve it. The author also recommends a David Bowie song for listeners.
Hey there, gang! I hope you’re having a great week (or at least that it’s good as can be). I think at this point I am ready for winter to be over. I don’t spend too much time outside during these months. The conveniences of modern life have made it such that I have just about everything I need very close at hand, and I can easily order just about anything else. That’s one of the extremely handy things about living in a major city during the Canadian winter.
But right now I’d really like to go for a nice walk in a park that’s full of greenery in moderate temperatures, y’know? I’ll be able to do that soon enough, I suppose. It really is true that time seems to pass much faster the older you get. You can chat about each game (and other topics) with me and other folks. I’m always interested to find out how other people approach the game, so join us! It’s fun. It’s also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare(!) occasions that I mess something up.You’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my hints for each grid via Google if you need them! Just Green group — magnanimous (GRAND, GREAT, LOFTY, NOBLE)Purple group — first names in jazz (CAB, COUNT, DIZZY, DUKE)(I think far more about those games than I care to admit). I got the greens first, even though I was wary of NOBLE, COUNT and DUKE possibly being part of the same group. A guess of SOFT, LIGHT, FAINT and DIZZY then left me one away from another group. Swapping out the latter for MILD did the trick for the yellows. I then figured GUITAR, DUKE and DIZZY(?) might be David Bowie references, but I couldn't see what would go with them. I really didn't know where to go from there. One random guess left me with nothing, but GUITAR, DUKE, DIZZY and COUNT put me one away from a group. I swapped COUNT for GIRAFFE, but no dice. I should have figured out the blues at least. The purples refer to CAB Calloway, COUNT Basie, DIZZY Gillespie and DUKE Ellington (not clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Friday’s game if you need them. P.S. Since I mentioned him in my thought process breakdown/explanation, I have to go with a David Bowie song for today’s recommendation. There are so, so many to choose from. I’ve used'Modern Love' before, so I won’t go with that again. I'm in the mood for some rock and roll Bowie, so'Suffragette City' it is! What a cracking song:and other word games and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot!
