The Los Angeles County Tree Lighting Ceremony drew a crowd on Monday night to watch as lights on a beautiful 50-foot Christmas tree were turned on at the Music Center. The tradition was set by late County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn in honor of L.A. County children in 1948, modeled after the first National Christmas Tree Lighting launched by President Calvin Coolidge in 1923. Los Angeles County Supervisors Kathryn Barger, Janice Hahn, Lindsey P. Horvath, Holly J. Mitchell and Hilda L. Solis, joined Music Center President Rachel S. Moore in offering holiday greetings before lighting the Christmas tree.
