Though The Batman and Superman: Legacy are part of two separate DC franchises – the former will remain in its own universe while the latter will kick off a new DC Universe – there are many similarities between the two projects.The Batman followed a young Bruce Wayne who was already Batman, which is similar to what Superman: Legacy will do.

The Batman did not see the Joker as the main villain, but the film did incorporate the Clown Prince of Crime in a clever way. Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, was already in Arkham in The Batman, suggesting that Batman had faced the Joker earlier in his career. The Batman’s deleted Joker scene all but confirmed that Batman put Joker in Arkham before the events of the film, thus establishing Batman’s history with the Joker without having to dedicate an entire movie to the iconic villain.
Why Superman: Legacy Needs Lex Luthor Lex Luthor has appeared in most Superman movies as well as in Justice League, meaning that, at first, it may seem like a good choice to skip the classic Superman villain. However, considering how divisive the DCEU’s Lex Luthor was, Superman: Legacy can benefit from a new take on the character.
Introducing Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy as someone who Superman already has a history with rather than as the main villain allows the Superman reboot to explore other antagonists without sidelining such an important part of DC Comics' mythos. For example, in the 2000s’ DC animated universe, arguably the best adaptation of the DC Comics universe, Lex Luthor went from a Superman villain to the biggest threat the Justice League ever faced when combined with Brainiac.
