We will stay sunny and dry with above-average temperatures through all of next week.
Plenty of sunshine is expected across the Gulf Coast heading into today! We’re starting off cool and pleasant to begin this morning, with more sunshine expected this afternoon. Temperatures will max out in the mid-to-upper 80s, slightly above average for this time of year. Some breezy winds are possible this afternoon, with gusts out of the SW up to 20 mph.Sunday looks just as nice with skies staying sunny and temperatures maxing out in the mid-to-upper 80s.
Rip current risks are HIGH today, so please be cautious at our local beaches. Always know the name of the specific beach you’re located on, and where the closest lifeguard stand is. Rip currents drop to moderate tomorrow, and low on Monday through midweek. Tracking the tropics, Helene is now a post-tropical cyclone and continues to bring increased rainfall to KY, OH, IL, and MO. Joyce and Isaac are in the Atlantic but are not a concern for any land areas. They will continue to churn in the Atlantic waters through midweek, remaining a problem for the fish. We are monitoring an area off the coast of Africa with moderate chances to develop. It could become a tropical depression or storm by midweek as it moves west over the central Atlantic.
We are watching another area of low pressure that could develop in the SW Caribbean this week. Chances are moderate over the next 7 days. While it’s still too early to talk about specifics, models are consistent with something developing and moving into the southern Gulf by the end of the upcoming work week. Make sure you still have your hurricane plan ready - and be cautious of what you see and share on social media.
