Santa Run Silicon Valley returns after two years off, benefitting SJ Aspires, a program to support first-generation high school students as they prepare for college.

If you’ve missed seeing thousands of people sweating their jingle bells off while running through downtown San Jose dressed in Santa Clara suits, this is your lucky day. The Santa Run Silicon Valley is returning Dec. 11 in-person for the first time since 2019.

From what I’ve heard, this race was not set to come back this year. But Liccardo’s office got together with Carl Guardino — the former Silicon Valley Leadership Group CEO who launched this run and the Turkey Trot — and J.T. Service’s Soul Focus Sports to get it up and running. . Runners will all get a holiday-themed race shirt, and the first 100 registered participants will get a free Santa suit .San Jose Water President and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Gere wasn’t playing Santa on Wednesday, but he did provide some gifts that’ll make this Thanksgiving better for some Silicon Valley residents.

Gere said this is the third year San Jose Water has taken part in Operation Gobble, having started at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I don’t know where we are in it, but we’re just living with it now, but the needs of the community have not changed and are probably more acute at this point,” Gere said.
