Arkansas State will host their football season home opener against Memphis this weekend.

On Saturday, you can expect heavy pedestrian and traffic delays around the A-State campus. The university is asking people to look out for one another.

The warning comes just weeks after a Jonesboro Public School parent and two children were hit by a car walking near Douglas MacArthur Junior High School. Smith says just like any game day, they'll have an additional police presence to make sure pedestrians and drivers alike are safe. This doesn’t extend to just campus. With recent changes to East Johnson Avenue, Smith urges drivers to be on the lookout for students and fans who rely on crosswalks in the busy part of town to get to the stadium.
