Claudia Callejas said she spent her Thursday morning like any other day, visiting Uncle Bean’s Coffee Shop at the corner of Houston Avenue and Alma Street. But her morning routine changed when two would-be robbers grabbed her bag.

Law enforcement stresses that if you’re ever in a robbery situation, to just give the robbers whatever they’re demanding. “Purse and wallet thefts are often referred to as crimes of opportunity,” the video said. “One of the most effective ways to prevent purse and wallet theft is to always be aware of your surroundings. Prevent becoming a potential target by taking the opportunity away from the thief.”
