A new normal on Capitol Hill.

A police officer stands at his post on the steps of the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday morning, March, 14, 2017, following an overnight snowfall. A late-season storm is dumping a messy mix of snow, sleet and rain on the mid-Atlantic, complicating travel, knocking out power and closing schools and government offices around the region. It was a moment of unity in Washington, less than years and a lifetime ago.

"When both parties see themselves as potentially competitive, that discourages them from seeking the kind of consensus, or working across the aisle," said Michael Thorning, Director of Structural Democracy for the Bipartisan Policy Center.Instead of, uh, operating in a professional manner, this place has just evolved into this bickering and, and nonsense and not, not really doing the job for the American people," Rep. Ken Buck, R-Co., explained.

Of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in Jan. 2021, just two are still in office. The newest member of the House of Representatives made the observation earlier this week.
