Shonen Jump characters
Gintama’s Hideaki Sorachi, one of Shonen Jump’s biggest legends, is finally coming back with a new manga. With a 16-year run, 73 million books sold worldwide, and numerous anime, movies, and spinoffs, Gintama has always been one of the best Shōnen Jump manga, and with how effortlessly it combines absurdist comedy with action and drama, it’s easy to see why.
Few Shōnen Jump stories are as big as Gintama, and seven years after its finale, Hideaki Sorachi is finally returning to Shōnen Jump with a new manga, Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers. Not much is known about the series, but with what little has been revealed, it’s certain to be a phenomenal read when it launches on April 20. Everything We Know About The New Manga From Gintama’s Creator According to the official synopsis of Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers, the series is centered around a demon king forced out of his castle by a hero; going off of that and the title, the larger plot is likely the demon king training a classroom to be his servants and help him defeat the hero to reclaim his castle. One of the most notable Gintama spinoffs is Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class, which reimagines the cast as high school students and teachers with all the same goofiness of the original series, and while Hideaki Sorachi didn’t personally write that story, it’s safe to assume that Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers will have a similar tone and style. Why Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers Could Be Shōnen Jump’s Next Big Thing Even with just a synopsis out, Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers already has the makings of Shōnen Jump’s next big thing. As previously discussed, Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama is one of the best Shōnen Jump stories around, comedy or otherwise, so if Sorachi brings that level of energy to Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers, then it’s certain to be a hit. That would especially be good to see with the current state of Shōnen Jump; with My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen both over, and manga like Kagurabachi, Ichi the Witch, and Someone Hertz still not exactly major phenomena, Shōnen Jump still needs big manga to draw in fans, and a new hit from an established favorite could be exactly that. Posts By J.R. Waugh There’s no telling if Class 2-B: Hero Destroyers will be a big hit, but if it’s even half as good as Gintama was, then it’s bound to be one of the best manga a person could read in Shōnen Jump in ages, and hopefully, it will more than live up to its hype when it debuts on April 20. 10/10 Gintama 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-14 Comedy Sci-Fi & Fantasy Action Animation Release Date 2006 - 2021-00-00 Network TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TVh, TVQ, TSC Directors Yasuhiro Minami, Kazuo Miyake, Shuji Miyahara, Naoki Hishikawa, Ai Yoshimura, Shinya Watada, Matsuo Asami, Shouji Ikeno, Seiki Takuno, Taro Kubo, Tomoaki Koshida, Hikaru Yamaguchi, Hitoyuki Matsui, Hiroyuki Hata, Ko Matsuo, Mamoru Enomoto, Yohei Shindo, Tatsufumi Itoh, Jet Inoue, Makoto Moriwaki, Tatsuma Minamikawa, Hirokazu Yamada, Shigeki Takagi, Shinobu Sasaki Writers Shu Matsubara, Taku Kishimoto, Masaki Tachihara, Deko Akao Cast See All Main Genre Animation Producers Noriko Kobayashi, Atsuko Kobayashi, Hayato Saga Seasons 11 Number of Episodes 367 Streaming Service Crunchyroll, Hulu Studio Sunrise, Bandai Namco Pictures Based On Manga MyAnimeList Score 8.93 Powered by Expand Collapse
