The Predator franchise is continuing strong.
Another Predator movie is now set for a 2025 release. The Predator movies began in 1987 with Predator, which starred action movie legend Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. The series has since had several sequels and spinoff movies, including 2022's Prey, which was released exclusively on Hulu. Prey received good reviews, and reignited interest in the franchise.
Yes, a Predator movie will have a theatrical. I’ll tell you very simply. After Prey became a success, Dan came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2 . And we’re like, “What do you want to do?” And he rattled off a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really cool. We’ve actually done two of them. Two are coming out next year. One I can’t talk about yet, but the other one is the live-action Predator film with Elle Fanning that just wrapped in New Zealand.

Prey received good reviews, and many found it cinematic enough to have warranted a theatrical release. Despite these release format gripes, the movie was incredibly successful on Hulu. It inspired 20th Century Studios with enough confidence in Dan Trachtenberg and the Predator franchise that they were willing to consider a theatrical release with Predator: Badlands.
