A sign in Santa Cruz, California, warns surfers of an aggressive sea otter that has been grabbing surfboards. SANTA CRUZ, California — A sea otter is laying claim to a patch of surf off the coast of California.
The police department says there have been four recent incidents involving the otter and surfers. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is aware of the otter and is working to capture and relocate it, the department says.the female otter is 5 years old and is known as 841. The otter reportedly has interacted with surfers in the past but recently has become more aggressive.
