San Antonio police began investigating Pegues in June 2022, after the SAPD Human Exploitation Unit received a call from the victim's parent. "We want our community to know that the safety and security of our students and staff will always be our utmost priority," interim chief communications officer Laura Short said in an email to the Express-News.In Hays County, the sheriff's office is searching for a former custodian with the Dripping Springs school district who is accused of having multiple sexual encounters with a student.
