The A’s put Ramón Laureano on the injured list and released Stephen Piscotty, the team announced Tuesday morning.
Another potential piece of the rebuilding A’s future is on the way following a series of roster moves Tuesday morning that included promoting top catching prospect Shea Langeliers to the big leagues.
The A’s are in the midst of a seven-game trip through Texas, playing the Rangers tonight looking to snap a nine-game losing streak. Langeliers is expected to be in the lineup, at DH. . Piscotty, who has dealt with a myriad of injuries the past couple of seasons, slashed .190/.252/.341 in 139 plate appearances across 42 games with the A’s this season.“We as an organization learned a lot from him and his family,” A’s general manager David Forst said of Piscotty during a teleconference Tuesday morning. “This is not an easy decision but one that comes in a transition to a different goal for the rest of the season.
