Russia is exporting its pugnacious brand of geopolitics into Geostationary Orbit. One of their satellites is suspiciously close to others.

Slingshot’s Global Sensor Network verified the detection, and also projected close approaches to another satellite at ~16 km. This image shows the Kosmos-1408 satellite before and after an impact from a Russian anti-satellite test on 15 November, 2021. Image: Numerica Corporation. That satellite was mysterious, and likely experimental. But because of its powered maneuvers, there was speculation that it could be an anti-satellite weapon.
