c surgeonCLEVELAND, Ohio -- Deshaun Watson has already been sidelined for two weeks with his right rotator cuff contusion, and could need more time to heal, a noted orthopedic surgeon and consultant to the LA Galaxy toldWatson, who suffered the injury Sept. 24th against the Titans and sat out the Ravens game Oct. 1, is day-to-day with his injury as the Browns come off of their bye week. He rested during the week, but threw inside the Browns facility on Monday while the team practiced outside.
The good news, he said, is that such contusions usually have very good outcomes, and Watson should be like new when he heals. The Browns have stated numerous times that there’s no structural damage in the shoulder, which was injured during the third quarter of the Titans game when Watson took a hard shot from Amani Hooker after a 10 yard run.He said fluid on the shoulder — which Watson told CBS Sports’ Evan Washburn before the Ravens game was present — is typical with a rotator cuff contusion, and that the fluid wouldn’t have caused a tear to go undetected.
“Could you re-aggravate it with a hit? Sure,” Soppe said. “I still think the chances are pretty low, but the risk of actually tearing the tendon that would necessitate surgery is extremely rare.”
