I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.
This week’s episode of The Acolyte was stunning, from its lightsaber choreography to its shocking deaths. And while the reveal of the Master wasn’t, as he did turn out to be Qimir, Manny Jacinto’s performance as a new villain in the universe was incredible.
In terms of a connection to Qimir, here’s Ren’s philosophy, using the heirloom lightsaber as a metaphor: There’s also an indicator in the show itself outside of Qimir’s dialogue, it’s that the show uses the “Kylo Ren” theme from the new trilogy as a musical queue, with Kylo being the leader of the Knights of Ren, killing Ren himself and discarding the saber, making his own, famous crossguard one. He became the new master of the Knights of Ren.
