But he also believes that there’s a direct connection between its depiction of postwar American idealism and the country’s current turmoil and unrest—despite appearances to the contrary.
The nation seems to be more polarized these days than it perhaps has ever been; even basic health and safety protocols, like wearing a mask to stop the spread of a deadly virus, have been politicized. But Lafferty isn’t talking about trying to make America great again with“I’m not jingoistic in a blind way,” he said.
“I knew the book. I had obviously seen the movie. But I don’t know if I ever really read the book—like sat down, cover to cover, read the book,” Davisson told“It’s so different than the movie, which covers a very small portion of it. We were like, this is incredible.”
