Residents are awaiting the reveal of the new Alief Neighborhood Center, which has been under construction for the past two years.

Architecture firm Page is designing the project, and the services department is overseeing its completion.The project costs $58.5 million, and is funded by the city with no federal or state support. The design for the project began in 2018, and it officially broke ground in November 2020. “This project has both been a labor of love and something that the community of Alief has been wanting for so many years,” Risen said. “We got to hear directly from citizens what was frustrating about the existing park, what they love about it, what their aspirations were for the new park and center and that was awesome.”The project is made up of the 70,000 square foot community center with a 38-acre park behind it.
