The Browns will get their schedule next week and the home games will be must-see.
Sure, it’s making an event out of a non-event, but you’re going to pay attention. You’re going to play the schedule game. You’re going to refresh X looking to see what games get reported early. You might even fall for a fake leak or two.
Four top-tier quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow will visit Cleveland to go along with appearances by Tua Tagovailoa, last year’s leader in passing yards, and the Dolphins’ dynamic offense and Dak Prescott leading the Cowboys in a potential contract year. Only the Jaguars and Saints are within shouting distance of a winning record in their win total. Even the upside on the lower win total teams like the Raiders , Commanders and Broncos is hovering around the .500 mark. Road games are never easy in the NFL, but the Browns could find themselves road favorites on all but one of their non-division trips.
Division games in December hit different, especially when both teams are still alive in the playoffs. Nothing against the Jaguars, Bears and Jets, but those weren’t nearly as exciting as if the Browns could have had some cold-weather contests against Pittsburgh, Baltimore or Cincinnati late in a division race.
