Missouri City Police Chief Mike Berezin said the man who was killed fired at least two shots at an officer who returned fire, killing the man outside a 7-Eleven Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022.A 15-year veteran of the Missouri City Police Department fatally shot a man outside a 7-Eleven in the south suburb Sunday night, authorities said.

The shooting happened at 11508 State Highway 6 North around 7:30 p.m., Missouri City Police Chief Mike Berezin told On Scene reporters. He said officers were called to the parking lot of the convenience store after receiving reports from store personnel about a man acting erratically and displaying a firearm.

"When the officer arrived he attempted to speak with the , the subject did pull a firearm and` exchanged gunfire with our officer. Our officer was not hit," Berezin said."The suspect was hit a few times and was transported via ambulance otthe medical center for treatment and he has succumbed to his injuries there."It wasn't immediately clear how many times the man or the police officer fired their weapons.
