Residents of lower units at the Capitol Pointe Apartments were forced to evacuate after flooding condemned their homes. Many residents are struggling to find new housing and dealing with the financial impact of this disaster.

“Bad, poorly," Reed said. "They could’ve given us lodging for a couple days instead of leaving us out in the rain all night."in the lower units of the Capitol Pointe Apartments, leading them to be condemned. Residents of those units were left no choice but to leave."Just because I moved into a new place doesn’t mean financially, I’m okay," Reed said. "I’m not okay financially."Vincent Lipinsky is still looking for his new home.
“At first, I thought they would be like, 'this happened, I’m sorry, come and move in here,' but none of that,"'A literal nightmare': Tenants forced to leave condemned Capital Pointe apartmentsThe complex's owners sent CBS 21 a statement saying the following: The extent and nature of the damage required that we immediately vacate and remediate the units. With extensive water damage, it is critical to empty flooded units immediately to prevent mold and protect other residents. Our team sought to assist affected residents with alternative housing, and we will continue to support them in any way we can.
State Rep. Justin Fleming is collecting gift cards, clothing, food, and everyday household items to give out to those families in need. His office in Colonial Park is a collection point and can be located at 4807 Jonestown Road.
