Supervisor Solis said LA County is making history and she hopes it sets an example for the rest of the nation to follow

Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and colleagues gathered at Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration for the second annual flag-raising ceremony of the LGBTQ Pride Flag in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. In what officials called a history-making debut, the Los Angeles County LGBTQ+ Commission met for the first time on Tuesday, June 11, with a ceremony led by County Supervisor Hilda Solis marking the occasion.

“Los Angeles County is making history — again — and hopefully setting an example for the rest of the nation to follow,” Solis, who represents the First District, said in a statement. “We are here to catch people who reach the end of their ropes, physically, mentally, financially,” Hahn said in a statement. “That means we serve some of the most vulnerable populations in L.A. County, and within those groups, LGBTQ people are disproportionately represented.
