The reptile class comprises turtles, crocodiles, snakes, lizards and the tuatara. Here are three of the rarest snake species in North America, and where you might be fortunate enough to locate them.Tantilla oolitica The snake spends much of its life under leaf litter and debris. Due to its cryptic nature and specialized habitats, it is exceptionally difficult to observe in the wild. The species is known from only a few dozen records in museum collections. It primarily feeds on small invertebrates, which it hunts within the leaf litter and under rocks.on a trail in Key Largo, Florida. What made this find especially interesting was that the snake had half devoured a giant centipede.
