In other words, it was beauty through the eras, which “never goes out of style,” says Terry Barber, director of makeup artistry at MAC and the mind behind the evening’s look.
. “The makeup on ’70s disco album covers—think Donna Summer, Diana Ross—brought into beauty the idea of using multiple foundation and concealer colors to shape, rather than using powders. It’s my favorite thing.”in particular as inspiration for the ultra-glam and contoured faces. Playing with shades of black, Barber set out to up the ante on definition. Of course, Barber has worked with Jones in the past, so he knows a thing or two about the technique.
