Fort Bend commissioner removed from longtime influential post. He says Dems did it as retribution

Fort Bend County Commissioner's Court, from left, Vincent Morales, Grady Prestage, KP George, Andy Meyers and Ken DeMerchantFort Bend County officials have removed Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers as representative on the Houston-Galveston Area Council, a decision the Republican leader said he believes is retribution for seeking audits on, including one that now has an agreement with the council and whose director is politically linked to County Judge KP George.

The removal follows a H-GAC meeting in October, where Meyers opposed a contract he said was worth $100,000 between that agency and a group called. The council approved the contract for the firm to create print and social media advertisements for H-GAC, Meyers said. Meyers said believes that the court’s decision was also based on the firm's ties to the Democratic members of the court. Mustafa Tameez, founder and CEO of Outreach Strategies, is an adviser to George.India Abroad reported that Tameez was chairperson of George’s transition team“ told me specifically that they were taking me off the H-GAC board because of what I did to Mustafa Tameez, point-blank,” Meyers said.

Fort Bend County auditor Ed Sturdivant confirmed that his office is scrutinizing the expenses paid out to Outreach Strategies, at Meyers’ request.
