Anchorage's Alissa Pili talks pre-draft jitters, the growth of women's basketball, and her cultural impact ahead of the 2024 WNBA Draft on Monday.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - On Monday night during the 2024 WNBA Draft, Anchorage’s Alissa Pili is expected to hear her name announced as a first-round draftee.
Coming off a junior season in which she was named Pac-12 Player of the Year, Pili doubled down by leading the Utes in scoring and rebounding once again. Her senior season was highlighted by a 37-point performance against the number one team in the country South Carolina, who would become the 2024 NCAA National Champions.
Her ability to score inside or out is paired with her underrated passing ability, tallying the third most assists on the team behind a pair of starting guards. Defensively, Pili is listed at 6-foot-2 and led Utah at 6.6 rebounds per game, ranked third in steals and recorded 28 blocks on the year, far ahead of the nine from her teammate with the second-most blocks.“On the court just someone that is versatile and can do a little bit of everything,” Pili said.
