The thing about comedy is that the joke does not always land. This was definitely proven by Jocelyn Chia when she angered many with her insensitive MH370 tragedy joke last year. According to the 'Kung Fu Panda 4' star, he believes that the only Singaporean allowed to speak on these matters is former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.' are just a country of small island Karens with main character syndrome who literally think they have all the answers despite having zero perspective on the world.
As seen in the screenshots below, the post sparked an online discussion among netizens, mostly Singaporeans. Others suspected that the Johor-born star was just rage-baiting for more engagement.
A few joined in on the joke by portraying the 'Karen' character and 'demanded' to speak to Ronny's manager about his statement on IG. There were also those who actually agreed with the 38-year-old's points but expressed that they didn't like the tone. A few suggested that people should not take the 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' actor's statement seriously as he does comedy for a living.
