Over the last seven years, 165 characters have died on 'Game of Thrones.'

If there is anything HBO's award-winning hit series Game of Thrones has never lacked, it's death. The series started out on a bloody note in the very first episode when men of the night watch discovered bodies of a few wildlings North of the wall. When those wildlings were turned into White Walkers, causing one young lad to desert his post—an act punishable by death—he met his maker when Ned Stark, Lord of Winterfell, chopped his head off with one clean swipe.

Wallen: Rule of thumb—don’t be a wildling plotting to kidnap a little lord like Bran Stark or his big brother Robb Stark might kill you. Khal Drogo: The leader of the Dothraki was badly wounded in his fight against Mago, and the cut Mago delivered resulted in a nasty infection. Although Daenerys tried to save him by ordering a witch to perform black magic, the Khal still ended up in a brain dead state, causing Khaleesi to suffocate him.

Eddard Stark: Ned was a man of honor, and maybe that was his downfall. His diligence to get to the bottom of the true origin of Cersei’s children resulted in his execution under Joffrey’s command—although it’s pretty clear Cersei had some influence in the decision.Barra Baratheon: The only thing the infant child did wrong was being the bastard child of King Robert, and for that, she was killed by Lannister soldiers.

Doreah: When you betray your queen—in this instance Khaleesi—on promises of riches that don’t actually exist, there’s a high probability of being locked in a vault and left to die. Greed doesn’t get anyone anywhere, and Doreah learned that lesson with her life. The Tickler: One of Sir Gregor Clegane’s trusted soldiers was the first to die as part of Jaqen H’ghar’s debt repayment to Arya Stark—three lives for the ones she robbed from the Many-Faced God. Valar Morghulis!

Maege Mormont: The head of House Mormont died while fighting for Robb Stark during the epic War of the Five Kings. Qhorin Halfhand: In an act to help hide Jon Snow’s true loyalty to the Night’s Watch from their wildling captors, the longtime ranger plotted a duel and convinced Jon to kill him in the fight so Jon could have a stronger standing with the wildlings.

Ros: The Winterfell prostitute was surviving well in King’s Landing until she crossed Little Linger. He set her up to service King Joffrey, who used her to test out his new crossbow during a live kill. Talisa Stark: Robb broke his promise to marry Walder Frey’s daughter by wedding Talisa instead, resulting in perhaps the more horrific murder scene in GOT history. While celebrating Robb’s uncle’s marriage to Walder’s daughter, Talisa was stabbed in her pregnant belly multiple times by opposing soldiers.

Lowell: The Lannister soldier wouldn’t make a deal for a chicken with The Hound, so, in true Sandor Clegane fashion, he killed him. Mag Mar Tun Doh Weg: Also referred to as Mag the Mighty, the wildling giant, was killed by six Night’s Watchmen as they held the gate during a wildling raid. Mossador: The former Mareen slave’s head was cut off by Daario after he killed a Harpy’s son without Daenerys’s permission.Lysa Arryn: Jealousy got the best of Catelyn’s sister, who was pushed through the Moon Door to her death by Little Finger, Lord Petyr Baelish.

Dontos Hollard: Once Sansa reached Little Finger’s boat during her escape from King’s Landing, Dontos, who helped her avoid capture at Joffrey's deadly wedding, was shot on the spot. Shae: Although Shae already hurt Tyrion by lying on the stand during his trial for Joffrey's murder, she completely broke his heart when he discovered her lying in his father’s bed. Not to mention, referring to old Tywin Lannister as her “lion.” She paid for her heartless treachery with her with a crossbow to her own heart.

Janos Slynt: The ex-Commander of King’s Landing City Watch refused to acknowledge Jon as the new Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and it cost him his life. Maester Aemon Targaryen: While he had one of the least violent deaths of the entire series, it was still a sad day when Aemon died of old age in his bed.

Lem Lemoncloak: After virtually slaughtering an entire village of people with his thieving troupe of outlaws, including Brother Ray, Lem paid the ultimate debt with his own life thanks to The Hound. Balon Greyjoy: The father of Yara and Theon Greyjoy was killed by his little brother Euron, who—up until that point in the show—was presumed to be dead.

Alliser Thorne: The Master-at-Arms of the Night’s Watch was never a fan of Jon Snow, so it wasn’t all that surprising when he plotted to have Jon killed just as he was named the new Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. It’s Jon who ends up having the last laugh though when he comes back from the dead and has Alliser hanged for treason.

Roose Bolton: Ramsay couldn’t allow another child to take his place as the heir to House Bolton, especially not his father’s new son with wife Walda. Not to mention, there was probably a slither of him that always wanted to kill his dad for whatever treatment he received for initially being a Snow. So, Ramsay killed him by stabbing him in the chest.

High Sparrow: After everything High Sparrow put Cersei through, it was a sure thing he would die a fiery death, and he did. He was lit up in green flames and burned to a crisp during the explosion of the Great Sept of Balor along with all of his sparrows and a slew of other people.Margaery Tyrell: King Tommen’s wife was also standing judgment at the Great Sept when the building was flooded with wildfire.Lancel Lannister: Scorched, toast, whatever you'd like to call it.

Olena Tyrell: The head honcho of House Tyrell, Olena took a sip of Jamie’s poison and died, but not before she confessed to her role in Joffrey's murder.
