Billy Chemirmir, 49, is accused of killing more than two dozen elderly women and one man across North Texas. Grand juries in Dallas and Collin counties...
, Karen Vuong, said in a pre-recorded video. “That doesn’t mean that we don’t think you deserve to feel and experience the consequences of your actions. We still think that you do.”did not expect Chemirmir would react. Still, they urged him to confess.“You never know the extent to which you get through to Billy Chemirmir when you’re making your statement,” said Cheryl Bixler Pangburn afterward.
“I realized there’s nothing I can say, nothing matters,” Jennings said. “He is a cold, dark, evil man and I felt that more today than I ever did in any of the trials.” Thomas Brooks said each victim story was necessary to build a case against Chemirmir and he returned the heartfelt sentiment. Throughout the trials, prosecutors and their witnesses said Chemirmir hunted elderly women at a North Dallas Walmart and within senior living facilities. In the cases of Harris and Brooks, Chemirmir followed them from Walmart to their homes where he smothered them to death and took their jewelry and other valuable items. Unlike strangulation, smothering can leave few visible signs on a body.
Medical examiner records, police reports and civil lawsuits suggest Chemirmir’s alleged killing spree began at Dallas’ high-end Edgemere community in April 2016. Court records accuse him of killing at least three women there. Chemirmir was arrested for trespassing at Edgemere in June 2016. He was sentenced to 70 days in the Dallas County jail but was released after 12 days on good behavior.
