So, Pizza Hut wants to appropriate Chicago's under-the-radar tavern pizza style. Is it a good ambassador to the rest of the world?
Back in 2022, I began to notice a certain trend that was creeping through online food media. In a seeming attempt to manufacture a more defined sense of regionality, it seemed that many publications were highlighting specific, niche pizza styles and codifying what really made them distinct.
Some of this marketing, I still find pretty confusing.
This is clearly the closest thing on the menu to the “Supreme” or house special being offered by most of the classic Chicago pizzerias making tavern pizza in the city, so it’s also what I ordered.
