During his time in San Antonio, trailblazing rancher and businessman Nathan Kallison, a Russian-immigrant, hired local builder H.C. Thorman to build four stone-exterior homes for him.
This 1926 Olmos Park property is one of them, according to a recent property listing. It's now on the market for $1.45 million. Since its construction, the four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home has only had five owners, according to its agent. The residence includes three downstairs living spaces, and its covered patio is surrounded by mature trees including a"legendary magnolia tree," according to the listing.
In case the Kallison name sounds familiar, he was the founder of downtown San Antonio's storied Kallison's Department Store, which closed in the late 1960s. The building at 124 S. Flores St. still remains, including its statue of a cowboy holding a saddle.
