A look at Garfield High School on Oct. 4, 2023, where the Seattle Police Department responded to reports of a shooting. There was a large police presence at Garfield High School in Seattle Wednesday after a shooting caused property damage near the school.

Both Seattle police and Seattle Public Schools told KOMO News the bullets flew just a block or two away from campus. Garfield texted families at 12:42 p.m., saying the school was sheltering in place and police were on site.
