Shekinah had been in several toxic relationships before meeting Sarper on vacation in Istanbul. Shekinah has started noticing red flags in Sarper after moving in with him.
Shekinah’s friends brought up the fact that Sarper was controlling during 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 5, episode 8. Shekinah’s friend Wendy revealed the aesthetician had an iffy track record with men. She worried she couldn't help Shekinah since she was going to a different country. Wendy revealed to their other friends how Sarper had told Shekinah she had to be a certain weight and change her makeup and hair color. Shekinah tried her best to defend Sarper.
Shekinah Knows It's A Controlling Tactic When Sarper asked Shekinah what her weight was when she was in the U.S., she brushed it off. She thought since Sarper is a personal trainer, this was a normal question. She realized that it was a whole other story after coming to Turkey. After Sarper wanted to weigh her himself, Shekinah started to wonder if this was something she should be concerned about. She wanted to know if it was going to be a daily thing.
Sarper Considers Shekinah His "Client" “She likes to be muscular, and I don’t like women that are muscular,” Sarper said during a confessional. He gave Shekinah a target weight because he knew that if she reached that target, she would have the physique he wanted. He claims it’s his job to give targets to his clients as a personal trainer. However, Sarper then decided to pick out outfits for Shekinah by telling her to not wear a skirt because it was “too short.
