A nine-year-old boy died, and another person was seriously injured in a crash on I-465 eastbound on the south side of Indianapolis Thursday evening.
INDIANAPOLIS —
According to Indiana State Police, the crash occurred at around 5:20 p.m. on I-465 between South Meridian Street and Old US 31. Upon arrival, first responders located a heavily damaged car was a person entrapped and unresponsive. There were also two semis and two other cars damaged as a result of the crash.
ISP says a nine-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. A five-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation shows the driver of a semi failed to slow down as he approached backed up traffic on the interstate.Neither drugs nor alcohol is a suspected factor in this crash. Excessive speed by the semi driver played a role.
