2 Houstonians among 9 Texans indicted in opioid pill scheme, running pill-mill pharmacies

Kent Lyons, 52, of Houston; Roquel Turner, 47, of Manvel; and Traunce Alfred, 43, of Baytown, are charged with illegally distributing drugs — including oxycodone and hydrocodone.

The earnings made from the drug sales were allegedly stored in numerous bank accounts controlled by Lyons and Turner. The two are also accused of hiding proceeds through the sale and purchasing of real estate and properties. Luxury items, including a Rolls Royce, a Ford F-250 and a Mercedes Maybach were bought by Lyons with illegal funds, according to court records.

The group then illegally sold the opioid potentiators — medications, herbs or compounds used to expand or magnify the effects of a drug — in bulk, according to court documents. Like Lyons and Turner, Dwain Ross and Mackey-Ross also concealed their drug money with various bank accounts and real estate transactions, the DOJ said. A Lamborghini was allegedly bought by Dwain Ross with illegal cash.
