This 9.44-carat diamond is among the personal collections of J. Stephen and Susan Simon for sale at the Janelle Stone Estate Services sale this weekend. After a two-year assignment in the U.S. Army he returned to Exxon Mobil in July 1969 as a business analyst at a refinery in Baton Rouge.where he defended the oil industry. The Simons had been married for 43 years when he died and they had three daughters. They met in middle school, according to her obituary. When Stephen was in graduate school Susan taught elementary school in the Chicago area.His work with Exxon Mobil moved the family around the U.S.
