Hundreds of mourners gathered at the 9/11 Memorial in downtown New York City Wednesday morning to mark the 23rd anniversary of the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when al-Qaeda hijackers crashed four planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in southern Pennsylvania.
