Snow White broke two Oscar rules.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs broke two pretty big rules at the 11th Academy Awards, held 86 years ago. Famous for being the first major Hollywood feature-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was also Disney's first princess movie. Needless to say, it was groundbreaking and played a significant role in the studio's legacy.
The success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs would lead to a slew of Disney Princess films to come. However, not all of them would accomplish what Snow White was able to accomplish. Unfortunately, Disney's other films would not achieve what his first Disney Princess movie did at the Academy Awards.
Snow White Was Honored By The Oscars Two Years In A Row Typically, films have one opportunity to win an Academy Award, but Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was a different story. The Walt Disney Family Museum Blog states that it is the only Hollywood release to be honored two years in a row , but the reason actually makes a lot of sense.
It wasn't until the 64th Academy Awards in 1992 that Disney would achieve success with the first animated feature nominated for Best Picture with Beauty and the Beast. At the 10th Academy Awards, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was nominated for Best Scoring, and it lost to One Hundred Men and a Girl.
