“I’m very, very worried where things are going, we don’t seem to have a plan, and we’re certainly not building the like-for-like replacements to replace the old coal fire power stations,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

Hopes history not ‘repeating’ with Liddell Power Station set to closeNationals Senator Matt Canavan says he doesn’t think we’re ready for the closure of the Liddell Power Station with the shutdown set to begin on Wednesday. “We’ve got some experts out there saying there’s enough power, but we heard all these things before the Hazelwood Power Station was shut in Victoria a few years ago,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia. “After that was shut we had an absolute energy crisis – power prices surged, factories shut and let’s hope we’re not seeing history repeat here.”

Parliament should match ‘standards’ of strip clubs by banning Thorpe: MacphersonSky News host James Macpherson questions whether Lidia Thorpe should be banned from Parliament after the Independent Senator received a lifetime ban from a Melbourne strip club. “Shouldn’t the Australian parliament at least try to match the standards of suburban strip joints … Lidia Thorpe’s behaviour now precludes her from entering a venue where women strip naked on a poll but is not so bad that she’s precluded from sitting in federal parliament deciding public policy,” Mr Macpherson said. “To say Senator Thorpe is familiar with controversy is a little bit like saying Jimi Henderix is familiar with the guitar. “If people are trying to drag down Senator Thorpe they are utilising her own behaviour. “When even a strip club decides your conduct is unbecoming, you’re already at the bottom.”
