Police sources said he went into hiding after learning that authorities were searching for him following the arrest of two doctors — Dr Adil and Dr Muzamil, whose questioning led to the recovery of explosives, NDTV reported. According to officials, the arrests of Dr Adil and Dr Muzamil led investigators to 2,900 kg of explosive material, including ammonium nitrate, seized from Faridabad in Haryana. The suspected bomber, Dr Umar, is believed to be connected to this network.After the Red Fort blast, which killed many people and injured around two dozen, police in Jammu and Kashmir launched a massive operation to track down suspects. At Koyal village, police searched Dr Umar’s house and detained his mother and two brothers. DNA samples of his mother were taken to match with those of the suicide attacker. On Tuesday, police also detained his father for DNA testing, NDTV reported.Police have also taken Dr Sajad into custody, a friend and colleague of Dr Umar at Al-Falah University. In another development, police have detained two brothers, Amir and Umar Rashid, from Samboora village, about 20 km from Koyal. Amir, who works as a plumber, is considered a key suspect after a photograph surfaced showing him standing in front of a car allegedly used in the terror plot. However, Amir’s family has denied any involvement, claiming he had never travelled outside Jammu and Kashmir.These arrests followed a major police operation on Monday that uncovered a large quantity of explosives. Investigations began on October 19, when posters of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit appeared in Nowgam, Srinagar.
