PHC bans plasma transfusion for COVID-19 patients without permission
According to a letter issued by the Punjab Healthcare Commission, only those hospitals can conduct its clinical trial which have been allowed by the Expert Advisory Group.
It said that some private and government hospitals, which are not registered for the trial, had done illegal plasma transfusion. The letter said that the clinical trials of plasma transfusion for COVID-19 patients are going on and their results are yet awaited. It warned that action will be taken under the PHC Act 2010 against the hospital found proposing or transfusing plasma illegal.
