is planned to be built on about 240 acres on North Padre Island that was once a Schlitterbahn water park, resort and golf course.
Neighborhoods will be linked by bridges, boardwalks and walking paths to the rest of the property, which is called Whitecap. It will also include a resort-style hotel, a marina and yacht club, a nature preserve, lakes and about 50 acres of commercial development with cafes, stores, galleries and markets.
Prices will start around $800,000, and Whitecap is expected to take seven to 10 years to build out. The median sales price of a home in Corpus Christi was $261,048 in April, according to the latest data from the Corpus Christi Association of Realtors. It was $793,250 in Port Aransas and $391,700 on Padre Island during the same month.
