3. SpaceX and ULA will send new rockets into space. One will launch from South Texas.The United Launch Alliance Vulcan rocket should launch in the first quarter of this year, carrying the Astrobotic lunar lander , two demonstration satellites for Amazon and theThe SpaceX Super Heavy rocket will push the Starship spacecraft into orbit from Boca Chica, an area outside of Brownsville. Starship has completed high-altitude launches, but a SpaceX rocket has not yet entered orbit from South Texas.
This mission, Polaris Dawn, is scheduled for no earlier than March. It is the first in a series of Polaris missions that will culminate with the first crewed flight of the company's Starship spacecraft. Other countries also have moon missions in the works. Tokyo-based ispace sent a lander into space in December, and this vehicle is currently traveling toward the moon. It's expected to reach the surface in late April. Subsequent ispace missions will work with NASA as its U.S. division is part of a team led by Draper that received a NASA contract to land on the far side of the moon by 2025.
