Hotels, restaurants and bars in the Gaslamp Quarter and beyond are hosting themed events and discounts

player ready... The San Diego Convention Center has upped its game a bit in the food and drink department during Comic-Con in recent years, but for convention attendees looking for meals and cocktails outside the center, here are some of the specials available July 22-26 and beyond.

Pokémon fans will have much to celebrate during Comic-Con July 23-26 at Union Kitchen & Tap in the Gaslamp Quarter. The Secret Pokémon Speakeasy will feature themed décor, collectibles, prize giveaways and Pokémon-inspired cocktails. Some of the Eeveelutions-inspired cocktails are the Eevee, an espresso martini with bourbon cream, the Jolteon, a Jack Daniels Lynchburg Lemonade, and the Vaporeum, a Parrot Bay blue Hawaiian.

There will be a Pack + Pint special, where diners can purchase a house beer and pack of Pokémon trading cards for $17. On July 25 and 26, there will be a Pokémon-inspired brunch buffet from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Specials include fresh-baked pastries from Milly’s Mission Beach. And on July 25, cosplayers are invited to come in and participate in the restaurant’s cosplay contest.

Hudson & Nash will serve a Comic-Con-themed menu. Pool Club visitors can snack on Mexican dishes named after famed Mexican luchadors.

There will be themed cocktails and mocktails at the Odysea Lounge and three Willy Wonka-inspired lattes and refreshers at the hotel’s Starbucks outlet. 1 Park Blvd. , downtown. Temaki Bar: Handroll, Sushi, Sake is serving dishes through July 31 inspired by Japanese anime characters and films. Apetizers include the Omega chicken wings and the Lantern greens, hand rolls include the Battle Beast and Super What? and there’s the Matt Murdock and Darkseid Darko specialty rolls.

There will also be themed nigiri and cocktails. During Comic-Con, the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp’s is turning its Wild Hare Bar Garden into the retro video-game-themed Level Up Lounge, where there will be themed cocktails, photo stations, live entertainment and more. From Wednesday through July 26, Margaritaville Hotel San Diego’s Landshark bar and grill will be refashioned into a tropical intergalactic space port. Features will include glowing cocktails, spacey-themed décor and lighting, selfie stations and live entertainment.

Pendry plans trio of Comic-con food, drink events: The Pendry San Diego hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter is planning three activations next week for Comic-Con visitors. In the hotel’s Nason’s Beer Hall July 23-26, an activation will celebrate Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and Tom Holland’s non-alcoholic beer brand BERO. From noon to 4 p.m. July 24 and 25, there will be limited-edition Spider-Man-branded cans of BERO and there will be immersive photo opportunities.

PopUp Bagels will be selling bagels from 7 a.m. until sellout from July 23 to 26 from a Volkswagen bus parked in front of the hotel. And at the hotel’s Provisional restaurant, Donut Bar will be selling character-themed doughnuts on the patio beginning at 7 a.m. July 23-26. Barleymash retaurant will roll out intergalactic food and cocktails July 23-26. Themed cocktails include the Galactic Buzz, The Mothership and Warp Speed.

Food specials include the Drax-A-Roni and Cheese pork dish, Pizza Planet Pockets and the Experiment 626 AKA Stitch dessert. There will also be the Space Smugglers Cantina, a password-protected cocktail lounge. To get inside, guests must messageMarvel bucket cocktails at the Deck: The Deck at Moonshine Flats, an open-air venue and arcade in the Gaslamp Quarter, is inviting Marvel fans and cosplayers for a lineup of 32-ounce bucket cocktails inspired by Marvel Studios films, from July 22-26.

They include the Wanda-melon Magic, Captain Moonshine and Loki Lit. Film fans and cosplayers are invited to check out some Marvel film-inspired cocktails during Comic-Con at The Deck at Moonshine Flats in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.
