Other experts recommend writing several drafts, finding a peer to edit your draft and avoiding one-liners or too much humor. The best essays are ones that directly answer the question, but also have a strong opening, hone in on a personal experience and are reflective. It’s best to approach recommenders in person, if possible, and follow up with necessary resources – such as a link to the school’s mailing address or application portal. Put all of the information in once place in order to limit confusion or mistakes. Also, consider sending a thank you note, or a small gift, after you apply to show your appreciation.
