Money laundering case: Shehbaz Sharif’s interim bail extended till July 16
LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Tuesday extended interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League-N president and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif in money laundering case until July 16.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem of the high court heard the bail petition. Azam Nazir Tarar, his lawyer, said that he has tested negative for the novel coronavirus. “Why didn’t Shehbaz Sharif show up if his Covid-19 test report came back negative,” questioned the bench. Sharif’s lawyer told the judges that as per health experts, a coronavirus patient is declared as having recovered from the disease after his two test reports come back negative. He added the PML-N leader is not completely fit.After hearing detailed arguments of Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer, the court extended the bail till July 16.
It is worth mentioning here that he has been accused of owning more assets than his known sources of income. The opposition leader’s arrest warrant in the case was issued on May 28, according to NAB.
