Tobias Harris believes another big season is in store for Tyrese Maxey.

“I think he’s going to show people his playmaking ability as well. I think he’s such a great shot-maker and somebody who makes tough shots. It’s impressive, especially with the threes he makes off the bounce, and to be able to shoot it at a high clip. I think we’re going to see a big leap for him this year.”

In year one, Maxey averaged eight points and two assists. From beyond the arc, Maxey offered his doubters a year’s worth of proof that his shot is still a work in progress, as he knocked down just 30 percent of his threes in 2020-2021. Heading into the 2022-2023 season, Maxey was a popular candidate for first-time All-Star predictions. Unfortunately, his campaign was derailed quite early on in the process. During a late November matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, Maxey suffered a foot injury. While he avoided surgery, the former first-rounder was headed for a recovery process that he hadn’t experienced as a pro.

All-Star hype is building around Maxey going into the new basketball year once again, and it’s not just Harris who fired up the discussion. As publications understand the Sixers’ current circumstances withand the team’s new system, it’s widely believed Maxey will see another expansion regarding his role.
