The main focus will be the clash between Korean appliance makers, seeking growth opportunities in Europe amid declining profitability, and fast-rising Chinese competitors. According to IFA organizers on September 4, this year’s 101st exhibition will feature more than 1,800 companies and organizations from 138 countries. The industry often compares CES to “a stage for imagination,” while IFA is considered “a stage for realization,” underscoring its focus on practicality. The exhibition is expected to present the most realistic blueprint of how cutting-edge technologies, led by artificial intelligence , will be integrated into everyday life. At the center are Korean and Chinese companies racing to unveil innovative new products.RGB TVs use red, green, and blue light-emitting diodes as light sources, allowing for individual brightness adjustments to produce diverse colors and contrasts. China has taken the lead in this field. At CES in January, China’s Hisense unveiled its RGB local dimming technology, enhancing contrast by adjusting brightness across different zones, and officially launched its 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV UX in April. In response, Samsung Electronics is showcasing its “Micro RGB TV” at IFA, which reduces LED chips to below 100 micrometers for more detailed contrast and depth. While a latecomer, Samsung is confident in its “technological edge.” The TV also incorporates AI that analyzes video content in real time to optimize color tones. Sony of Japan is also unveiling its own RGB LED TV, setting the stage for a three-way battle among Korea, China, and Japan in the premium TV market. In the robot vacuum sector, where Chinese firms currently dominate their domestic market, attention is on whether LG Electronics and Samsung can mount a comeback. LG is unveiling two new models at IFA with a built-in design that stays hidden when not in use and a powerful steam function. The device boils water to generate steam, sprays it onto the mop to enhance cleaning performance, sterilizes the mop, and even measures water turbidity during cleaning. Leveraging LG’s strength in AI, the vacuum uses object-recognition AI technology and multiple sensors to detect surroundings and obstacles with precision. Samsung, too, is introducing a robot vacuum with steam sterilization and advanced detection capabilities, even recognizing transparent, colorless liquids. It also features a “pop-out combo” function, which extends brushes or mops to clean corners and walls. Chinese companies like Roborock, currently the No. 1 robot vacuum brand in Korea, as well as Ecovacs and Dreame are also drawing attention with new products. Roborock is set to debut a robot vacuum that can also handle lawn care, targeting the European market. 경제 많이 본 기사 Meanwhile, Samsung and LG’s “AI home rivalry” is expected to heat up further at this year’s IFA. Both companies are presenting smart homes where appliances are interconnected and easily controlled, Samsung through its SmartThings app, and LG via its standalone device ThinQ ON. The difference lies in the central hub, an application for Samsung versus a dedicated device for LG.
